The key specs of the BAKCOU Mule are more than promising. Let’s learn more about them.
Frame and Tires
The BAKCOU Mule is developed with durability in mind. It also has THE look, coming in three different color schemes – matte black, the so-called Desert Tan, and the unique Kuiu Verde 2.0 Camo. It also has two different configuration options: the standard and the step-through version. Stand-over height is 29.5 inches standard in the 18-inch model and 26 inches in the more recent step-through version.
The high-grade 6061 aluminum alloy frame has all the strength and durability to tackle dusty, dirty, muddy, extreme paths without pressure. Another feature implying the durability of the BAKCOU Mule is that it can carry up to 300 pounds even though it only weighs 68 pounds only.
The rust-resistant, rugged frame, the Maxxis Minion tires of 26 x 4 inches, the shock-absorbing seat post, the wide-stance pedals, and the broad handlebars of 740 mm show that the Mule is custom-built for outdoors.
Motor and Brakes
The Mule has the speed and readiness to get you around outdoor adventures thanks to the exceptional performance of its Bafang ULTRA M620 mid-drive motor, which is the best motor developed until today. Being the “diesel engine” of mid-drive electric bike motors, the Bafang ULTRA M620 comes in two options in the Mule: the 750W or the 1000W one. The difference is that the BAKCOU Mule by default makes use of a 1000W engine, even for delivering 750W. The power of the motor can be restored any time you want. The performance level of the power delivery is ensured by the continuous feedback to the motor by the integrated torque sensor of the Mule.
The Mule can reach up to an astonishing speed of 35 mph, then, what about the brakes, right? The Tektro dual-piston hydraulic brakes of 203mm on the front rotors and of 180mm on the rear do a great job in stopping this beast.
The minimum speed is when the Walk-Assist mode comes in, which reduces the speed to 3 mph to allow you to walk alongside your Mule.
The distance would be one of the most important questions as it is the outdoors we’re speaking of. The Lithium-ion Extended Distance 48V battery of the BAKCOU Mule comes in options just like its motor. But this time, the difference is in terms of size: 14.5Ah, 17.4Ah, and 21Ah batteries are all more than enough to get your Mule far enough on a single charge. You can get to go as far as 40 miles, thanks to the battery combined with the Bafang motor. Compared with the average of around 20 miles of e-MTBs, this number is astonishing.
Lastly, the Shimano Alivio nine-speed gearing is always there to take you to your destination in cases you get drifted or your battery drains.
There is no doubt that the strong, fast and agile Mule has serious advantages over other eMTBs. Effortlessly putting the rider in full control even in riding on the hardest terrains, the secret of the Mule is giving the natural, stable feel even generating this amount of power and torque.
The price of the Mule is also more than acceptable considering its features and range. If you have to be picky, you would have a slight complaint that the cog-set parts don’t include chrome. But in terms of minuses, that’s all.
