22 Mar Fazua Evation Drive System

Several new motor systems have debuted recently. Fazua was founded in Munich, Germany, and is a tiny 250-watt mid-drive motor and a small, 250 Wh battery that mounts in the downtube of a bike.

It weighs a mere 3.3 kilograms (7.26 pounds) for the motor, battery and electronics. It features a clutch that disconnects the motor when a rider goes faster than 25 kph, so it’s just like pedaling a non-assisted bike.

Several brands are adding this motor to their bikes, including Bulls, Focus, Lapierre, Pinarello, Fantic and others.
