We talked about best e-bike motors in market and best value ones. Here we will cover worst e-bike motors ever.
We cover worst e-bike based not on specifications but based on customer satisfaction, reliability and functioning.
We got complaints about every major brand such as BOSCH, Brose but most complaints were from these brands Shengyi, TS and DAPU.
I had chance to test all of them and this is my personal feedback.
WHY I THINK DAPU IS WORST MOTOR IN MARKET ?
- UNBEARABLE SOUND
It is a noisy e-bike motor. Especially when climbing uphill there is a strange quirky noise.
2. UNRELIABLE MOTOR
I heard several people who own Dapu mid-drive motor e-bikes such as Pedego or Ariel Rider. And all of them complain about certain electronics malfunction.
Velec is another brand who uses Dapu motor and their motors always have issues such as display communication protocol problem.
3. RIDING EXPERIENCE
When I tried Pedego last month I was surprised how bad motor let me feel. Especially when changing gears. It creates
Your mid-drive motor is as good as electronics in it. I heard from Pedego dealers they don’t want to carry Dapu motors anymore. That is why Dapu is shifting more to Shimano Steps and Brose system.
Online forums are full with people complain unrepaired, constant problem creating motors.
I received several emails from people who own Evelo Aurora and they complain about motor quality problems. So if one motor creates lots of problems in different brands it is easy to call them the worst e-bike mid-drive motor to buy.
I know Bosch or Shimano are expensive and can be over your budget. In that case buy a reliable motor such as Shengyi, Bafang or XOFO.
